Volunteer work
Volunteering has been a large part of my life and has changed it in such a positive way. Volunteering has helped me gain a perspective on life as there is no better way to bring together a diverse range of people to understand the values of helping someone in need.

In 8th grade, I started volunteering at events for a club at my high school called Interact which is a Rotary Club that provides opportunities to participate in meaningful service projects. By being involved in this club, I have gained valuable experiences which has given me a good sense of how influential my voice is and how to act on the things I care about. Through Interact, I was given the chance to work with Sheltering Wings, a place that provides safety, healing, and hope through emergency housing programs to thousands of domestic violence survivors. Within the child assistance program volunteers, like myself, watch the children while their parents are taking life-skills classes in order to get their lives headed in a positive direction. But during my sophomore year, Interact leadership decided to halt work at Sheltering Wings due to lack of volunteerism but I worked as hard as I could to advocate change and find a way to reconnect the relationship between Interact and Sheltering Wings. Even though I set a goal that seemed hopeless through initial communications, I was able to find success by focusing my energy on re-launching the Sheltering Wings program through my Interact Club.

Through college, I have been getting more involved within new volunteer experiences which is shown the CEA Project tab.
Soccer & Basketball
Sports have always been a large part of my life either playing or watching them. I have been playing basketball since I was 9 and soccer starting at 4 years old.

With basketball, I started playing at the age of 9. I came in the sport knowing nothing about it but I was told from my coach, at the time, I had potential to become a great player. So I decided to stay with the sport up until middle school where at the end I was the starting point guard. When high school started I decided to focus my attention on soccer but up until today I love watching basketball and playing occasionally with friends.

With soccer, my parents had started me on the sport at very young age to not only keep me physically active but to build skills like teamwork. I started playing soccer at the age of 4 and played competitively for years whether it was in my travel league or in school. Unfortunately, when I started playing soccer in high school I received a variety of injuries throughout my 4 years. I dealt with shin splints, a "bruised bone"(as the doctors called it), my tibia and femur rubbed together and made it difficult to straighten out my knee and lastly I received two concussions in the span of a weekend. Even though the injuries set me back at times, it has also made me stronger individually and helped to define my future interests as looking into physical therapy.
